It feels like just yesterday Wednesday was playing local spots like The Odd and The Mothlight. Last night, the Asheville quintet made its national TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with a performance of “Elderberry Wine,” premiering the new track and video earlier that day. Their first release since Rat Saw God —named 2023 Album of the Year by both Paste and Stereogum — trades some of the band’s signature noise for a twangier, alt-country tilt.
There’s no details yet about when we’ll see the next album drop. One can only hope that the wait isn’t much longer. Maybe we’ll get some tour dates soon too.
