Local heavyweights Bask have long stood out for their unique fusion of heavy, doomy stoner metal and Americana, but their new single “Dig My Heels” takes that blend to another level. Released earlier this week, the track offers a first glimpse at the band’s upcoming fourth album, The Turning, and it’s a wild ride—complete with a serene, extended pedal steel interlude that drifts in midway before crashing back into explosive riffs.
The local quintet will celebrate the release The Turning on August 22 at The Orange Peel. Not only is the release-day show free, but the bill is stacked with Asheville talent: Secret Shame, Generation of Vipers, Tombstone Poetry, and Cliff B. Worsham are all set to perform.
Fans can pre-order vinyl and CDs now via Bask’s Bandcamp page.
