Watch Tombstone Poetry’s New Video for “Bear Down”

If you’re on the hunt for Asheville’s next great alt-country export in the wake of MJ Lenderman and Wednesday’s breakout success—and Colin Miller’s phenomenal Losin’—Tombstone Poetry is a strong contender. Their masterful 2024 album How Could I Be So In Debt? may have been overlooked amid the chaos of Hurricane Helene, but it’s well worth your time. Give it a spin—or ten.

Now, the quintet is back with a twangy new single, “Bear Down,” released yesterday alongside a video that places the band outdoors among galloping horses. The track captures them at their finest, with Caelan Burris’ sharp, self-deprecating lyrics taking center stage.

If you like what you hear, you can catch the band at The Orange Peel on August 22 with Bask, Secret Shame, Generation of Vipers, and Cliff B. Worsham. They’ll also be performing at Static Age on September 17 with Gouge Away and Fliora.
