Asheville darkwave duo Cold Choir is back with another banger, offering the first glimpse of an upcoming EP. Franky and Rio are in full command on “It’s A Sin,” locking into a relentless groove designed to make you move. At the center is Franky’s striking directive — “Chin up, stomach in, tits out” — a line borrowed from her grandmother’s instructions on posture as a young girl. If you’re not sweating, you’re not paying attention.
On the new single, the duo explains: “‘It’s A Sin’ is an exploration of pushing the boundaries we impress upon ourselves, and specifically, the freedom of expressing our own sexuality… with authenticity and without shame.”
That spirit of sexual empowerment fuels the NSFW video as well. Filmed at 27 Club by Andrew Suhren, it seduces viewers into a Cold Choir–crafted fantasy world featuring pole dancers Zara with One Hand and Patrice.
While the full EP is still on the horizon, fans won’t have to wait long to hit the floor with Cold Choir. They’ll perform at Fleetwood’s on Sept. 7 with Feyleux and Psychic Death, and again on Sept. 29 at Eulogy alongside Dancing Plague, Dildox, and More Is Not Enough.
