It’s been a big week for the Asheville scene: Bask and Wednesday both announced new albums, Scott McMicken and the Ever-Expanding dropped New Purple Dress, and Sleep Number celebrated the release of Sunspill. With all that happening—plus a wave of touring acts passing through—it’d be easy to overlook Idle County’s excellent new EP, Offerings.
Led by singer-songwriter Ben K. Lochen, the local alt-country outfit leans harder into twang than guitarist Caelan Burris’ other project, Tombstone Poetry. Their latest release, Offerings, is a strong reminder not to overlook what’s happening in your own backyard.
