Powder Horns Returns with Expansive New Single “ON/ON”

On Monday, Asheville’s Powder Horns offered a first taste of new music since their fiery 2024 EP The Defeatist. From the opening moments of “ON/ON,” the growth of Brett J. Kent’s project is immediately apparent. Where the band once thrived on aggressive garage punk, the new track reveals a greater sense of patience and clarity. Kent’s familiar passion remains, now bolstered by brass arrangements from Clay White and Peter Dimery, along with Justin Lawrence’s soaring electric violin. The song serves as a strong preview of what’s ahead on the upcoming album, Heavy Dreamer, due January 23. The band will celebrate the release the following night at Eulogy, with opening sets from Mechanical River, Cheeks, and Zeb Camp Wright.

Fans can pre-order the album on vinyl via the band’s bandcamp page.
